Description

Refuge Re Alberto 1° is situated in the heart of the Catinaccio, between Fassa valley and South Tyrol, in the wide Gartl basin, surrounded by immense rocky peaks such as the Croda di Re Laurino, the north face of the Catinaccio and the famous Torri del Vajolet (Vajolet Towers).

From the refuge it appears as though you can reach out and touch the Delago, Stabeler and Winkler Towers, named after the climbers who were the first to conquer these peaks.

If you look up you can admire the legendary "Giardino di Re Laurino” (King Laurino’s Garden), which is an unforgettable sight!

A unique atmosphere, imbued with silence, tranquillity and stunning sunrises and sunsets!

Built back in 1929 and refurbished on several occasions, the refuge welcomes climbers, hikers and mountain enthusiasts from all over the world, in a friendly, homely environment.

It is a meeting point, a place to shelter during bad weather and an ideal place to stop off for some homemade cooking. Traditional tyrolean specialities such as Kaiserschmarren (a type of sweet pancake) and dumplings are on offer, as well as Italian dishes, including spaghetti and polenta.

Benefits

Panoramic views, stunning sunrises and sunsets.

In the vicinity of well-known climbing routes and the famous Torri del Vajolet.

An authentic Dolomite atmosphere set among the mountain tops and accessible to everyone.

Access to the refuge

From the Trentino flank:

Pera di Fassa: take the chairlifts Vajolet 1, Vajolet 2 and Pian Pecei and then continue along the trail that passes through the wood (around 30 minutes), to reach Gardeccia .
