Rifugio Fronza alle Coronelle is situated at 2,337 m in altitude, in the foothills of the Catinaccio, in a stunning panoramic position: stretching from Latemar to Corno Bianco and Corno Nero, from the Brenta-Cevedale Group to the Ortles and from the Vetta d’Italia to the Swiss and Austrian Alps.
It has a restaurant, bar, panoramic terrace, sun terrace and 60 beds.
The manager, Pier Paolo, and his family invite you relax and share this natural wonder. Whether experienced at sunrise or sunset: it is a sight that will touch your soul!
Its position is fairly manageable by chairlift and an ideal starting point for via ferrata (iron rope path) excursions and hiking.
Home-cooked food is available.

The refuge can be reached by exiting the Bolzano Nord (Bolzano North) highway through the Val d'Ega. Before arriving at the Passo Costalunga (Costalunga Pass), turn left onto the Via Nigra until you reach the Malga Frommer mountain lodge.
From the Malga Frommer you can reach the refuge by chairlift or on foot by taking path no. 1.
From Trento. Cross through the Val di Fiemme e Fassa until you reach Vigo di Fassa, then turn onto the Passo Costalunga which leads into the Via Nigra, and up to the Malga Frommer.
EASY PATHS FOR REACHING THE REFUGE:
- On the Passo Costalunga, along path no. 548 and no. 552, then continue along path no. 549 Majarè (Hirzelweg). Journey time: around 1 hour, 45 minutes.
- From the Rifugio Paolina, at 2,200 m in altitude, following path no. 552 then continue along path no. 549 which leads up to the refuge. Journey time: around 1 hour.
- From the Malga Frommer along path no. 1. Journey time: around 1 hour, 15 minutes.
- From Ciampedie, at 2,000 m in altitude, climb up through the green pastures of Prà Martin, continue along the “Sentiero delle Feide" (sheep) path until you reach the Rifugio Roda di Vael. From here continue along the Majarè (Hirzelweg) path, no. 549. Journey time: around 3 hours.
