The starting point is Bagni di Lavina Bianca, located upstream of San Cipriano-Tires, where numerous free parking facilities are available.
The path n.4A leads west, leaving behind the last houses of the village. Continue slightly uphill through the forest road that leads to the Wuhnleger, a pasture with a small pond, whose waters reflect the peaks of the Catinaccio and the Vajolet Towers (main photo).
On the North slope begins the path n.4 leading to a crossroad with a wooden crucifix, to which you can choose whether to continue along the comfortable path or the steepest forest road. The path is longer, but landscape certainly more fascinating, with some benches to catch your breath and enjoy the spectacular view of the surrounding peaks ofthe Tires valley. The last part of the trail crosses a mountain pine forest and leads to the Monte Cavone refuge, at 1.737 m.
From the refuge a path leads in only 20 minutes to the nearby top of Monte Balzo, a rocky ledge with two panoramic terraces from which you can enjoy a view unmatched on the Brenta Group, the Adamello glaciers, the Ortler massif, the Alps of the Ötztal and Stubai, the Catinaccio, the Latemar and Corno Bianco and Corno Nero.
